Internship Opportunities at PPS

Piedmont Psychological Services has worked with Longwood University students for several years to provide internships to both undergraduate and graduate students. Internships can be scheduled throughout the school year or over the summer, depending on the mutual need and availability of both our staff and the intern, and can range from 40 hours to 300 hours. We typically provide internships for students studying psychology, special education, human services, and related fields. However, if you are pursuing another area of study and feel our office may be a good fit for your internship please contact us to discuss the possibilities.

Testimonials From Former PPS Interns

"At my internship with Piedmont Psychological Services, I learned important information about the psychological side of children and adults with emotional disorders. My time at PPS allowed me to research methods that could potentially provide clients with emotional comfort and solutions and explore mental health benefits that may be difficult to obtain through insurance. PPS allowed me to learn valuable information about clients with mental illness that could be transferred to my career as a special educator."

"As a graduating college senior, the world was a scary place to figure out. With the impending bills and responsibilities soon to come, I needed an internship that would provide me the necessary real world experience to market myself to my future employers. Piedmont Psychological Services took a chance on me and I'm eternally grateful. Dr. Blackwood and his staff allowed me to personally interact with clients on a daily basis, helping to groom the people skills I take pride in doing my current role. Additionally, he allowed me to sit in on sessions so that I could get more familiar with his craft and the counseling profession as a whole. Due in part to his teachings, I've decided to pursue my masters degree to work with children like he does. If you enjoy a people-centric environment in which you can learn about the counseling field and want to groom your skills in a professional environment, I highly endorse Piedmont Psychological Services as the location for your internship."
